LP Swing Orchestra with Joe Stilgoe
Thursday 27th June 2024 7:30 PM
Stag Theatre
Britain's most popular Big Band in concert with the man The Sunday Times describes as “A very British Harry Connick Jr”. A programme commissioned especially for the Sevenoaks Summer Festival, featuring the songs of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin alongside swing classics from the libraries of Ellington, Basie, Miller and Goodman.
Over the last 4 years the LPSO has produced concerts for Sky TV, live-streamed from Abbey Road Studios and played at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Blackpool's Tower Ballroom, Cadogan Hall and even a special appearance in Dubai. Having worked with Clare Teal, The Puppini Sisters and Mica Paris, and with a number 1 in the iTunes Jazz Chart, they are widely regarded as the best band in the country. Formerly the Len Phillips Big Band.
Stilgoe is a regular voice on BBC Radio 2 and plays frequently at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. He has performed with orchestras including The BBC Concert Orchestra, RPO, BBC Big Band, RTE, John Wilson Orchestra and RLPO.
“Songs at the piano don't get much sharper than this.” ~ The Observer
